It’s been a while since I posted anything on this website. Well over 18 months, according to the date of my last post. About the same amount of time it took me to write “Operation Echo”, in fact. Never let it be said that I am not the ultimate mono-tasker.
I never planned on leaving so long between the fourth and fifth books in the Brook Deelman series, but, like most self-published authors, I am a long way off actually making a living from writing. It’s why book five’s journey has included a couple of stints working night shifts in warehouses, and even a spot of private detective work of my own. Along with some other speed bumps, I can only hope the disjointed process isn’t too evident in the end result.
Still, the hiatus from my own website hasn’t stopped me having ideas for blog posts. In fact, once Operation Echo is safely released into the wild, I have quite a backlog of random subject matters to get through…
A “Brits v Yanks” disagreement at Stalag IVb, some famous WWI footage that isn’t quite what it seems, a cheating scandal at the 1980 Olympics (that has nothing to do with drugs), and – if I can tie together a whole load of nebulous thoughts on the subject – a piece on how our “connected” world has robbed us of the storytelling power of goodbyes.
There are some other half-formed ideas bubbling away too, but that’s enough to be going on with for now. All I can guarantee is that I won’t leave it so long next time. And, on the off-chance anyone still stumbles across this dusty old website… Cheers! It’s good to be back 🍻
